Well, with almost 8,000 nautical miles under the keel (over 9,000 statute miles), we are almost home. If the weather holds out, we will be in Bayfield on the 17th. We will know more tomorrow (Saturday) night when we have passed Sault Ste. Marie and have an updated weather forecast.

Yesterday was a bit frustrating in that we reported in to the Welland Canal at 1600, were told we would have to wait a couple of hours, and ended up waiting six hours. However, we expected an 11-12 hour transit, and only spent six hours once underway. So, it all worked out well. Better to sit tied up at a dock and then sail straight through than spend time between locks treading water. Continued…

Well, it’s about 1900 local time and we have just finished dinner. Probably watch a movie and then about 2300 we will depart our little hidey-hole and head out toward the Welland Canal. The journey will take us from the northeast corner of Lake Ontario to the southern edge of Lake Ontario just about 25 miles from the southwest corner.

Well, today was eventful. We anchored for about 5 hours and then started for Lake Ontario, just to be closer when the weather window opened.

It closed with something of a vengeance while we were en route to our “holding pattern” destination. We had 8-10 foot seas with 30 mile per hour winds. None-the-less we made it to a small bay on the last piece of land before you are into the “big waters” of Lake Ontario.

Yesterday, at 0830, Dave, Don, and I put Nancy and Connor into a taxi for Montreal-Trudeau International Airport. So ended Nancy’s second trip to Dix-Sept on the Voyage part II. The New York-Nantucket was the first, and the Quebec City-Montreal was the second. And so ended Connor’s time aboard, a month to the day. It was great having him as crew. He did a great job at the helm and during “take-offs and landings”. And, he was just as neat and tidy on board as he is at home. Chew on that one for awhile.

Well, it has been a while.  Sorry about that – busy and all.

We are in Montreal. As you might know, our SPOT apparently quit sending “tracks”.  So, on most days, I have been sending one a day “OK” messages, but they only go to 10 email addresses.

The Quebec to Montreal leg was interesting.  Frankly, we had planned to go straight through.  Continued…

Well, yesterday I actually did a blog, but you never saw it. I save
documents more than probably 95% of all computer users. This document
will be saved likely 10-15 times before it is done. And yet, it
disappeared into cyberspace. Go figure. My friend and shipmate for
the Nantucket to Quebec City run, Bob Sims, is pretty computer savvy
and he tried several “searches” for the blog, but it was gone.

Anyhow, enough about that.
